About Roselle, IL
Roselle is a suburb of Chicago that spans across DuPage and Cook counties in Illinois. Before becoming the village of Roselle, the area was settled in the 1830s as part of the Bloomingdale Township. It was a hub for farming crops such as corn and flax.
The town got its name from a man named Rosell Hough, with no ‘e’ on the end. He set up shop in the area and was president of the Chicago and Pacific Railroad Company. When the train schedule was printed, they misspelled his name, which gave the town the name Roselle, IL.
