Heat Pump Service, Repair & Installation in Clarendon Hills, IL
Heat pumps are one of the smartest investments a Clarendon Hills homeowner can make for year-round comfort and long-term energy savings. McNally’s Heating and Cooling brings local expertise and award-winning service to every heat pump job, whether you need a quick repair or a full system installation.
Why Heat Pumps Make Sense for Clarendon Hills Homes
Clarendon Hills sits squarely in the DuPage County climate zone where winters can be genuinely brutal and summers arrive hot and humid. A properly sized and installed heat pump handles both seasons efficiently, moving heat rather than generating it, which translates to lower energy bills throughout the year. For many homes in the area, it is a practical and forward-thinking upgrade.
Modern heat pumps have come a long way, and today’s cold-climate models perform reliably even when temperatures drop well below freezing. McNally’s stays current on the latest equipment so we can recommend a system that is genuinely suited to how Clarendon Hills winters actually feel, not just how they look on a spec sheet. We take the time to assess your home before recommending anything.
Heat Pump Repair and Tune-Ups You Can Count On
When your heat pump starts short-cycling, losing efficiency, or simply stops keeping up with the temperature you set, it is time to call a technician who knows this equipment inside and out. McNally’s has been voted the best heating and air conditioning company in the area multiple times, and that reputation was built one satisfied customer at a time. We diagnose problems thoroughly so repairs actually address the root cause.
Our technicians service all major heat pump brands and handle a wide range of issues, including:
- Refrigerant leaks and recharging
- Reversing valve failures
- Defrost cycle problems common during Illinois winters
- Compressor and fan motor issues
- Thermostat and control board diagnostics
Regular maintenance matters just as much as reactive repairs. A well-tuned heat pump runs more efficiently, lasts longer, and keeps your home in Clarendon Hills comfortable through every season without working harder than it needs to.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a heat pump handle the cold winters we get here in Clarendon Hills?
Yes, and this is one of the most common questions we hear from homeowners in the area. Modern cold-climate heat pumps are designed to operate efficiently even when outdoor temperatures drop significantly below freezing, which is a real concern during a DuPage County winter. During your consultation, McNally’s will help you select a model with the right heating capacity for local conditions so you are not left short on a cold January night.
How do I know if my heat pump needs repair or if it is time for a replacement?
Age, efficiency loss, and repair history are the three biggest factors to weigh. If your system is under 10 years old and the issue is isolated, a repair often makes good financial sense. For older systems that have needed multiple fixes or are running noticeably less efficiently, a replacement may save you more money over time. Our technicians will give you an honest assessment either way. You can also explore our heating services page to learn more about what we offer.
Does McNally's install ductless mini-split heat pumps in Clarendon Hills?
Absolutely. Ductless mini-splits are a popular option for room additions, older homes without existing ductwork, and situations where zoned comfort control makes sense. They are efficient, flexible, and can be a great fit for a variety of Clarendon Hills properties. We handle both the installation and ongoing service for these systems.
Is a heat pump a good choice for both heating and cooling, or should I have a separate AC system?
A heat pump functions as both a heater and an air conditioner in a single system, which is one of its biggest advantages. For many Clarendon Hills homeowners, it can fully replace a separate furnace and central AC setup. In some cases, a hybrid system that pairs a heat pump with a gas furnace works well for our climate. To learn more about cooling options, visit our air conditioning services page, or schedule a consultation and we can walk you through what makes the most sense for your specific home.
Does McNally's service heat pumps for commercial properties in Clarendon Hills as well?
Yes, McNally’s works with both residential homeowners and commercial businesses throughout Clarendon Hills and the surrounding communities including Westmont, Hinsdale, and Burr Ridge. Commercial heat pump systems have their own set of requirements, and our team has the experience to handle installations, routine maintenance, and repairs for a range of commercial property types.
