Heat Pump Service, Repair, and Installation in Hinsdale, IL
Heat pumps are one of the smartest investments a Hinsdale homeowner can make for year-round comfort and long-term energy savings. McNally’s Heating and Cooling brings the local expertise and trusted service you need to keep your system running at its best through every season.
Why Heat Pumps Are a Great Fit for Hinsdale Homes
Hinsdale winters can be genuinely cold, and summers bring the kind of humid heat that makes a reliable HVAC system non-negotiable. A modern heat pump handles both heating and cooling in a single efficient system, making it an increasingly popular choice for homeowners throughout the area. When sized and installed correctly, a heat pump delivers consistent comfort while keeping energy costs in check.
Many Hinsdale residents are also drawn to heat pumps because of their environmental benefits. These systems move heat rather than generate it, which means they use significantly less energy than traditional furnaces or standalone air conditioners. Whether you are building new, replacing an aging system, or simply exploring your options, our team can walk you through what makes sense for your home and budget.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a heat pump a good choice for a home in Hinsdale given how cold winters get?
Yes, and this is one of the most common questions we hear from Hinsdale homeowners. Older heat pump technology struggled in sub-freezing temperatures, but modern cold-climate heat pumps are engineered to perform efficiently even during the coldest Illinois winters. Many systems also pair well with a backup heating source for added peace of mind on the coldest nights. Our team can help you evaluate which setup makes the most sense for your home. Schedule a consultation to get personalized guidance.
How often should I have my heat pump serviced in Hinsdale?
We generally recommend having your heat pump professionally serviced at least once a year, though twice a year is ideal given that the system handles both heating and cooling. Scheduling a tune-up in the spring before cooling season and again in the fall before heating season helps catch small issues early and keeps the system running efficiently. Our team makes it easy to stay on track with your maintenance. Book a maintenance visit online whenever it works best for you.
What are the signs that my heat pump needs repair?
Some of the most common signs include unusual noises during operation, rooms that are not reaching the set temperature, ice forming on the outdoor unit outside of normal defrost cycles, and a noticeable increase in your energy bills without a clear reason. If your system is short-cycling or running constantly without maintaining comfort, those are also signals worth looking into. Our technicians can diagnose the issue and walk you through the options clearly. If you ever need urgent help, our emergency service is available when you need it most.
Can McNally's install a heat pump in an older Hinsdale home?
Absolutely. Many of Hinsdale’s homes are older and were originally built with traditional forced-air systems or even boilers, but that does not rule out a heat pump upgrade. The right approach depends on your existing ductwork, insulation, and electrical setup, and our team will assess all of that before recommending a solution. In some cases, ductless mini-split heat pumps are an excellent fit for older homes. We will give you an honest picture of your options so you can make a confident decision.
